Lower Main Rails (6061-t6 tube)

The lower main rails are easy to replace by simply removing the old tubes and cutting new 1" OD tube to length then drilling out the bolt holes using the old rail as a guide.  The diagram below illustrates the bolt hole layout and dimensions.  After the tube is cut and drilled out make sure you ream the inside of the cut ends.  The ends will be sharp from cutting.  Once the ends are reamed out insert a 3/4" dowel rod 2' long into the front end of the rail.  The dowel rod will serve as a bushing for bolting down on and it reduces vibration related wear.  The rear of each rail should have dowel rod inserted @ 1' long.

Notes:  My original kit as purchased used had dowel plugs in the rear lower rails that where about  3" long. and dowel in the front  that just passed the second bolt hole
